As I prepare to seek the trust and support of our community in the 2026 municipal election for Regional Councillor for Wards 3 and 4, I want to stay connected with you, understand your priorities, and hear your ideas. Your voice guides every part of this work.

Your Community Priorities

Strong communities grow when people speak openly about what they need. The following issues are the ones residents raise most often. Do these reflect your concerns? If so, I want to hear from you. If you have other priorities, I invite you to share them with me.

Growth and Development

Clarington is growing quickly. You see the changes around you every day. New homes, expanding neighborhoods, and pressure on existing infrastructure are shaping the future of Wards 3 and 4. You deserve a plan that respects your quality of life. Many residents want development that supports families, protects green areas, and creates balanced neighborhoods. What changes do you hope to see over the next few years?

Housing and Affordability

Many young families feel priced out of the market. Seniors often share concerns about staying in the community long-term. Housing needs are shifting and you should have options that work for your situation. What housing challenges affect you today?

Traffic and Road Safety

Speeding in residential areas, congestion, limited parking, and unsafe crossings are concerns raised again and again. These issues affect your daily routines. You should feel safe whether you walk, cycle, or drive. Which roads or intersections worry you the most?

Infrastructure

As our population increases, roads, drainage systems, recreation facilities, and emergency services face new pressures. Residents want improvements that match the pace of growth. What improvements would make the biggest difference in your area?

Community Services, Recreation, and Healthcare Access

Parents ask about recreation programs. Seniors ask about accessible spaces. Many residents talk about long wait times to see a family doctor. Access to services affects your well-being. Which programs or services are most important to you?

Governance and Transparency

Residents want respectful decision-making at all levels of council. You deserve clear information and leadership that focuses on constructive dialogue. How do you feel about the current decision-making process in our municipality?

About Kannan Nair

Candidate for Regional Councillor – Wards 3 & 4, Clarington

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to visit my page.

I am honoured to be a candidate for Regional Councillor representing Wards 3 & 4 in Clarington. As a long-time resident of this wonderful community, I have witnessed Clarington’s growth, diversity, and strong sense of community. These experiences have inspired me to step forward and serve with dedication, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the people who call Clarington home.

I hold a University degree in Economics and Political Science, an educational background that has given me a strong understanding of public policy, economic development, responsible governance, and community planning. Throughout my career and community involvement, I have always believed that leadership is about putting people first, making informed decisions, and working collaboratively to achieve meaningful results.

As a social worker, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals and families through challenging times. This experience has strengthened my compassion, understanding, and belief that every person deserves respect, dignity, and an opportunity to succeed. It has also taught me the importance of listening carefully, understanding different perspectives, and finding practical solutions that improve people’s lives.

In addition to my professional work, I am also a writer who believes in the power of ideas, communication, and lifelong learning. Writing has allowed me to connect with people from different backgrounds, encourage meaningful conversations, and share positive ideas that strengthen our communities. I believe clear communication and transparency are essential qualities for effective public service.

Volunteerism has always been an important part of my life. I have had the honour of volunteering with many organizations, supporting community initiatives and working alongside dedicated individuals who share a passion for helping others. These experiences have reinforced my belief that strong communities are built through cooperation, kindness, and a shared commitment to making a difference.

My campaign is built on three simple principles: Listening. Connecting. Serving. These are not just words—they are the values that guide my approach to public service. I believe every resident deserves to be heard, every voice deserves respect, and every decision should reflect the best interests of our community.

If elected, I will work diligently to support safe neighbourhoods, responsible growth, reliable infrastructure, environmental stewardship, strong public services, and a thriving local economy. I believe in responsible financial management, open communication, and accountability to the residents who place their trust in their elected representatives.

Clarington is a diverse and welcoming community where people from many cultures and backgrounds live together with mutual respect. Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and I am committed to representing every resident fairly and respectfully. My door will always be open to hear your ideas, concerns, and suggestions because the best decisions are made when we work together.

This campaign is not just about an election—it is about building lasting relationships and creating a stronger future for our community. Every conversation, every handshake, every community event, and every opportunity to listen helps me better understand the priorities of the people I hope to serve.

I believe public office is a responsibility, not a privilege. Leadership requires honesty, humility, accountability, and a willingness to serve others before oneself. If elected as your Regional Councillor, I will work every day to earn your trust through hard work, transparency, and respectful leadership.

Together, we can continue building a Clarington that is safe, inclusive, prosperous, and prepared for future generations. I respectfully ask for your support, your ideas, and your vote.

Together, let’s build a stronger Clarington through Listening. Connecting. Serving.
